Back to: Fusion Robot Fun – Converting from blockly to Python.
Periodically, Modern Robotics makes available an update to Fusion’s Operating System. In the tutorial below, we demonstrate updating Fusion’s Operating System firmware from v1.0.0 to the January 2019 version (V1.0.5) of this software. In the video below the Ethernet cable is connected half-way through the procedure. We have subsequently noted that connecting this cable before starting the update reduced the update time significantly. This same procedure was also successfully tested updating Fusion’s firmware to the 22May2019 version (V1.3.2a).
These updates add the ability for Fusion to participate in “Data Logging”, where readings from a sensor can be recorded over a period of time. This can be excellent for school projects. As an example, a report produced by the best of our previous mentees who used “Data Logging” with a LEGO robotics system can be seen here.
Either: You can follow the video below that demonstrates how to update Fusion’s Operating System.
Or: You can follow these instructions:
- You must be logged in to Fusion at an “Admin level” account (revise setting up Fusion Accounts here, revise logging in to Fusion here).
- You must connect your Fusion Robot to your modem using an Ethernet cable.
- You consult the web page at Modern Robotics’ web site that details how to update Fusion’s Operating System by clicking here.
